My name is Rachel Loven, and I am a student from Brigham Young University going to Spain for three months for the Study Abroad Program. I leave in a little less than two weeks, and I am so excited!!! I can't wait to get there and be completely surrounded by Spaniards, seafood, and the Spanish language. Of course, I'm a little scared too, but this is an experience that is a once-in-a-lifetime thing, and will be an incredible memory. While I'm there, I will be visiting various sites throughout Spain, and attending the University of Alcalá. So it's not all fun and games, I"ll be doing school too. But I'm sure I'm going to be super busy, so the real purpose of this blog, besides to collect my thoughts, is for my family and friends back home in the States to be able to keep up with me while I'm in Spain. I've already got all my stuff packed, and the tickets booked, now it's just a matter of getting there. After taking a prep class to go to Spain, I have learned so much about the Spanish history, and I have a new respect for the people. This country has suffered so much heartache and so much pain...and even though they are different than we are, they are people too, and I love them without even knowing them. I can only imagine how I will feel after spending three months with them.
